In this interview, Mr. Zulauf talks about the challenges of digitization in healthcare. He emphasizes that the foundation for IT must first be laid in order to set up the processes and the organization holistically. A large part of the challenge is to collect the vast amounts of patient data along the most diverse touchpoints (doctor’s office, clinic, rehab, etc.) in an accurate manner and to provide it with interoperability on a common standardized basis. Zulauf sees the need for hospitals to rely on software-as-a-service solutions because of resource constraints, including in the IT department. The goal should be to create a common platform to work together to make sense of artificial intelligence in medicine.
